Xyleme and Flatirons Solutions Deliver XML-based Learning Solutions on EMC Documentum
Open standards enable the development, reuse and multi-channel publishing of learning content within enterprise content management systems
Boulder, CO; September 29, 2009 Xyleme® Inc., the leading provider of 100% XML, SCORM 2004 certified learning content management solutions and Flatirons Solutions, a recognized leader in enterprise and XML content management solutions, today announced their alliance to offer EMC Documentum services to training organizations in order to meet comprehensive, global learning requirements.
With this collaboration, Flatirons Solutions provides a set of integration services for seamlessly leveraging Xyleme’s native XML authoring and publishing tools within an organization’s current EMC Documentum infrastructure. The combination creates a fully integrated enterprise learning suite capable of delivering multi-modal training output and enhancing company-wide collaboration. The overall goal of the alliance is twofold:
- Create a single source of content at the enterprise level that enables a rapid time-to-market for new and customized learning products.
- Utilize open standards and native XML to provide the flexibility to handle new emerging channels and technology.
One of the first implementations of this joint collaboration, Informa Plc., is being rolled out to over 100,000 learners worldwide, enabling the company to deliver customized training products to users in over 40 countries and 32 languages.
“Flatirons Solutions leads the industry in championing XML-based component-based authoring and dynamic content delivery,” commented Jeff Katzman, Chief Learning Officer at Xyleme. “As the market demands more efficient use of enterprise content to deliver on global learning requirements, Flatirons’ expertise and long-standing relationship with Documentum puts them in a unique position to deliver on the promise of single-source learning within an ECM environment.”
“Aligning ourselves with best-of-breed technology partners is critical to our success,” commented Eric Severson, a founder and CTO of Flatirons Solutions. “The addition of Xyleme LCMS’ open technology allows us to extend our XML publishing expertise to the e-learning industry and add further value to both new and existing clients.”
The Informa single-source project jointly collaborated on by Xyleme and Flatirons was recently shortlisted by the E-Learning Age Awards as ‘The most innovative new product or tool in e-learning’.
