Xyleme Server’s unique technology lets users apply processes to their semi-structured content once only possible with highly structured data: the capability to mine highly granular, relevant elements from massive volumes of content for manipulation, reuse and distribution.

Virtual Document Creation

Xyleme supports on-demand virtual document creation by allowing users to search, combine and reassemble content to answer specific questions or create new information products on-the-fly. Fine results granularity on complex queries permit users to retrieve single elements such as a sentence or paragraph, an entire document, or a combination of documents and/or elements to build new, customized “virtual” documents. Results are returned as XML files that can be viewed by individuals, published to portal or target applications, saved as new files, or reformatted and distributed through any channel.

To illustrate, bank analysts may want to use their equity research materials to understand the long-term impact of the tsunamis on equities within the region they cover. They can simply run a query that limits their searches to the Asia-Pacific section of research reports, and search for the word and stemmed words of “tsunami” within the “Valuation” paragraphs. Queries can be ad-hoc and complex with results fed into any number of ADO.Net compatible reporting tools.

Advanced Versioning

Xyleme’s unique versioning feature allows users to perform detailed change analysis. Rather than wasting valuable storage space with entire document versions, changes are represented as XML delta files that can be stored, indexed and queried. These deltas can be used to reconstruct previous document versions and enables users to pinpoint changes between multiple versions of the same document. This feature also permits users to compare and analyze data between different documents.
