Job Description

Xyleme, Inc. is seeking a technical support person with experience supporting both software applications and server infrastructure running Linux.

 The successful candidate will provide first class tier 1 and 2 technical support, application administration, and Linux server administration with a focus on quality of service and delighting customers.

 

Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Performing incident and root cause analysis of customer-reported issues with Xyleme software
  • Assisting Xyleme employees with general workstation issues
  • Administering Xyleme business-critical tools such as e-mail, issue tracking, and collaboration
  • Administering internal and external instances of Xyleme software
  • Administering physical and virtual machines running Linux

Requirements

Minimum Requirements

The following requirements are mandatory. Resumes not meeting these requirements will not be considered:

  • 2 or more years providing tier 1 and 2 technical support for software applications
  • 2 or more years administrating Linux servers, especially services like IPTables, DNS, SNMP, DHCP, FTP, Nagios, Apache HTTPD, and Tomcat
  • Schedule flexibility to provide support when needed
  • Strong analytical skills, professionalism, and empathy with customers
  • Proactive attitude to solve issues before they become a problem
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English
  • Strong organization and attention to detail
  • Energetic, positive, with the ability to bring a “can do” attitude to challenges
  • Ability to work well with peers and managers

 

Other Skills

 

In addition to the minimal required skills listed above, the below are also helpful and will complement your application, but are not required:

  • Experience troubleshooting Java and XML applications
  • Experience administrating JIRA, Confluence, and/or Fisheye
  • Experience with Citrix XenServer 6
  • Current certification in Linux Administration
